Beshir Prayer Rug

In this unique prayer rug, ancient knots are used that are no longer employed in modern weaving. Only our special group of weavers has restored these forgotten knots in practice and applies them to exclusive carpets. A distinctive feature of Beshir namazlyks are floral motifs harmoniously combined with images of dragons in the central part of the carpet. The dragon, a symbol of power and strength, holds an important place in the mythology of Eastern peoples. In the beliefs of Central Asian peoples, these mythical creatures served as guardians of countless treasures. The decoration of the portal of the Seyit Jemaletdin Mosque in Anau also features images of two dragons, which echo ancient symbols known from the seals of Bactria and Margiana. The arched composition of the carpet is complemented by the horns of a mountain ram and eight-pointed stars, giving it special expressiveness and symbolic depth.
