El Darak People
The El Darak People project is carried out in collaboration with the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO.

El Darak People is a project celebrating those who shape beauty in the present day.
To the women whose masterful hands tie millions of knots, creating carpets that carry messages across the centuries. Bearing the torch passed down through millennia from mothers and grandmothers, they safeguard the secrets of their craft for future generations.
To the shepherds, whose flocks have traversed the boundless, sun-scorched deserts for centuries. Their meticulous selection of sheep with the finest undercoat gave rise to the Sarajin breed, renowned for its extraordinary luster and resilience.
El Darak People is a photographic gallery honoring the individuals whose dedication and artistry sustain the timeless legacy of carpet-making.
