Photo Exhibition «YKBALY HALA SIŇEN ZENANLAR»

In December 2024, the National Museum of Turkmen Carpets hosted the opening of a photo exhibition titled
"Ykbaly hala siňen zenanlar," dedicated to women carpet weavers. The event was organized in collaboration with the Secretariat of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO, the "Türkmenhaly" State Association, and the "El Darak" company.

The exposition includes photographic materials from the State Archive of Turkmenistan, the archive of the State Museum of Turkmenistan, as well as private collections of carpet weavers. The images on display reflect the daily lives and labor of women engaged in traditional carpet weaving. Modern photographs were taken during specially organized field reports initiated by the El Darak company to capture the brand's team of weavers in their creative process. The photographs were taken by Erkin Yazov, a talented photo artist whose work combines documentary precision with artistic expression.

The exhibition, dedicated to the professional journey of Turkmen carpet weavers, garnered significant interest and left a profound impression on visitors. The opening ceremony was attended by Chinar Rustemova, Secretary-General of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO; Akjemal Durdyeva, Chairperson of the "Türkmenhaly" State Association; representatives of diplomatic missions; as well as members of UNESCO Chairs and Clubs in Turkmenistan and the UNESCO Associated School in Ashgabat. Ultimately, the exhibition was added to the permanent collection of the National Museum of Turkmen Carpet as a significant contribution to the preservation of the country’s intangible cultural heritage.
