Guljemal

This carpet was created as an experimental piece, reviving historical carpet-making techniques. It faithfully follows the design of a carpet recorded by A. Bogolyubov in the album “Carpet Works of Central Asia” (Issue I, St. Petersburg, 1908, Plate 4). The original example was acquired in Merv in the late 1890s by Captain Randkhner from Guljemal-Khan and was approximately one hundred years old at the time of acquisition.
