Kapsa

This carpet represents a classical example of Yomud tribal weaving. The composition is defined by a deep, saturated field contrasted with an ivory-toned main border, reflecting the restrained yet highly expressive palette characteristic of Yomud aesthetics. The field is organized through a carefully structured diagonal arrangement of  kapsa motifs, one of the principal elements within the ornamental vocabulary of Yomud carpets. The motifs display subtle chromatic variation, creating rhythmic movement across the surface, while horizontally aligned, boldly graphic black-and-white elements introduce a striking visual counterpoint.
